How did you come up with "Blak Tornado"?
It all started in 2003 when I was at a recording studio with not much to do. After being persuaded, I decided to play one of the bass guitars as I had previous musical experience, and was rather inspired by the film 'School Of Rock'. After a few minutes I could play it reasonably well for someone who had never even seen a bass guitar, so I decided to "write a song" that sounded strangely like "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple... We all start there, ok?
All went well and with aid from my little brother, my song came developed some lyrics quickly.I quickly rushed to show the other people at the studio. After telling them that I wanted to show them my song, I went to go and set up my performance, whilst thining of a band name.
As my brother was also in the band to begin with, he had some creative control too. We decided that since we both liked the colour black, we should have it in our band name... yet that was very typical and boring, so we decided to take out the "c". Next up, we decided to end with "Hurricane" but it just didn't flow that well... Then I suggested "Tornado" and it stuck.
You mention your brother being part of Blak Tornado. Why did that stop?
Creative conflict. To put it simply. We had different views on what we wanted the band to be and thus he left. However, he was only nine at the time and thus his actions understandable.
His absence, however, was one of the reasons why "11 to 12 in one easy step" was so terrible. Not because he was a vital part of it, but because I was driven partially by spite from him leaving - which I now regret for many reasons.
That said, he does have some involvement every now and then, such as appearing in video blogs and doing guest voices in shorts.
Why did you keep "Blak Tornado" when you could have had something better? It's a bit... well... stupid.
Because it's something different. Something odd. The name isn't literally about a Tornado that is Black, it's about being different. It's about not being part of the crowd with a name like "____ Productions". The weird is more distinguishable than the normal. The different, the bizarre. It's all the same.
I can also relate to it personally. No, I don't think I'm black, or a tornado but I am different. I would hope for you to say that I'm not your average Joe; hopefully not because you think I'm creepy and have a mental disorder - that would be stupid of you hohohohohohohdsfbsdgsgknfmd ... but because I'm not like most people. That's why I chose it. It's not because of what you see on the outside - even I think it's a stupid name to give myself and sometimes I do think "Why didn't I pick something more cool and normal?" but really, it's about the metaphors that come attached to it - that's what it's all about... the meaninful bits. The bits you don't see at first.
Music, Music, Blah, Blah, Blah. I wanna know about your Movies, man.
Now, now! I'm getting there! To start with, I've been wanting to make movies since I was nine. I used to want to use my Mom's video camera and just film random stuff... but being young, I wasn't trusted with it.
However, one day I managed make a mock documentary on my brother, as if he was some sort of wild animal - we were both in on it, of course! Anywho, the rather disturbing video (if I recall correctly, I claimed to be the risen corpse of Hitler in one part...) is now a memory as the tape was lost. But since that age, I've been wanting to make videos and in 2005, I found Flash upon looking for a way to make a music video. I did just that and created the "General Annoyingnessance" music video.
I later found out about Stop Motion Animation (Claymation) via a Flash tutorial by Gamecubicle. I followed the tutorial and made some quick animations before making my first, proper claymation called "Green". It took me all morning to animate before I submitted it to Newgrounds, where it was promptly blammed... but that didn't stop me. (The untouched re-submit in 2006, six months later, didn't get blammed, for reference.)
I continued to watch GameCubicle's videos and made more stop motion videos. It was only until late 2005 that I discovered Knox, and by then I had already been making Claymations with voices in for a month or so - so that shuts you "OMG U RIP OF KNOXS!!!!!!1111!!!!!" people up.
In March 2006, I created my first "Clayground" short. My aim was to make a video like my "Green" animations, but with multiple characters... I tried until I realized how little there actually is that you can do without proper dialogue... but it was a start. Certainly a good take-off followed by a bad start, but a start non-the-less.
In July 2006, I invested my money into a Samsung DV Camcorder and have used it ever since. This was the start of my "vLog" era. My first Live action film on Youtube was a three second time lapse of clouds going over my house.
My first Video Blog was in fact a video of me "Hanging myself" - obviously a spoof, inspired by a video by Darren Martinez (which was also removed, later on). However, some people did not see the obvious fakeness and I decided to take it down to avoid further confusion.
From that moment on, I was then making crazy videos.
Are you ever going to put that vBlog back online?

What do you use to make all of your stuff?
For my first three music albums, I used a "Zoom MRS-1266" 12 track recorder. It's not like those huge ones you see on TV but it does the job. However, for my fourth album, I plan to use the Logic Express or Logic Studio software for Mac, depending on what I can afford.
For my claymations, I started by using a cheap digital camera and a free Windows program called Anasazi. I later bought a Samsung VP D362, and moved onto Stop Motion Pro for Windows. Now, I currently use iStopmotion on my Mac.
I started editing my shorts by using Flash MX Professional. I later moved onto
Adobe Premiere Elements. Currently, I use Final Cut Express to edit my shorts and video blogs. However, I first used Windows Movie Maker to edit my live action videos. I used Adobe Premiere Elemtents occassionally and then I moved onto iMovie. I also write my movie scripts in Celtx.
To record The Indigo Tornado Show, I use Skype to have a conversation with Dr_Indigo and I use Audio Hijack Pro to record the conversation. I also use iTunes to play music on the show. Finally, I edit the recording in Audacity.
For my website and other online things, I use the Adobe CS3 Design Premium package.
Most importantly, I use iTunes to keep me going while I do all of this.
Do you prefer making movies of music?
I hate both.
Seriously, though, they're too different to compare against each other and I express different things through each one. I literally can't choose.
Does anyone help you with your movies, music or website?
On the most part, no. Sometimes I get help from external sources, and my forum is maintined and moderated by other people as well, but the majority of my work is by myself
Do you get paid to do all this stuff?
Nope. I provide my online videos to you free of charge and thus I do not get paid, which I am perfectly happy with. That said, I do get a minimal amount of money for any CDs or DVDs I so happen to sell, but most of the cost of those go towards manufacturing and the cost to produce them.
Does it cost you money to have your own website?
Yes. It costs me more than I earn, but I will never ask you to donate your money to me.
Common Questions and Problems
Why aren't the videos on your site loading?
There are many possibilities but the main two are that you do no have Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer. This is a must have to watch any videos on my site.
My site also relies heavily on access to Youtube as to save bandwith. If you cannot access Youtube for some reason, try using on of the other links located on the page you are trying to view (If applicable). I not, I apologise for any inconveniences.
Your album won't import into iTunes! You've sold me a faulty disc!
Nope. That's not the case. I have not encountered this with any other media player, but iTunes does not like the CDs I use for putting my songs on. Don't worry, it's not as bad as it sounds.
If you email me with proof of purchase, I will electronically send you the Track(s) in high quality, free of charge. But you must send proof of purchase, otherwise I cannot send you the songs.
Why are there grey borders around some of the images on the site?
It's most likely because you're using a browser that doesn't support transparent .PNGs. Older browsers like Internet Explorer 6 do not have support for this modern file type that is supported in all modern browsers. To solve the issue, you could always download a newer internet browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla FireFox or Apple Safari - which is advisable considering that a lot of web developers are moving towards this image format due to it's high quality and small file size.
Why only Mac Widgets? Why not Vista Gadgets, etc.?
Due to the ease of creating Mac OS X Dashboard Widgets, I have chosen to only create widgets for Mac. With so many various different widget platforms around, it's difficult to supply to everyone's needs and as each one requires different standards, it's just too complicated.
I also cannot, for example, cannot check a Vista Gadget to see if it works, as I do not have Vista myself and don't plan on getting it.
